Memoir

We want you to tell your life’s story—and tell it well.

Memoir writing is a balancing act between past and present. What are the evocative memories or details that will ring with authenticity today? How do you shape the events of a life into a timely, compelling narrative? What might your own story have to say about a bigger context or moment?

Our team helps authors find their balance, whatever their situation. Maybe you are an experienced writer with a book contract in hand. Or maybe you just want to share your work with the people closest to you. No matter your goals, our team will help you view your life experiences from a high-level, storytelling perspective—as narrative beats crafted to have a lasting impact on your readers.

What we do

  • Through our early feedback, we aim to help you see the opening pages of your memoir with new clarity. Excited to have started writing, but not sure where to take it from here? Struggling to figure out what gives your personal story widespread appeal? After reading up to 50 pages of your memoir, we’ll schedule a one-hour call to clarify the goals of your memoir and rejuvenate your excitement about sharing your story.

  • In an editorial letter, we provide comprehensive feedback on the strengths and challenges of your manuscript. Is your present-day voice inviting your readers to learn more about you? What structural changes would enhance how the story unfolds? How could your experiences shed brighter light on a broader historical or social moment? Typically 5–10 pages in length, our editorial letter is a deep dive into what’s already working, what’s not, and revision strategies you can use to ensure you’re telling your story as powerfully as possible.

  • For memoirists who would benefit from continued guidance, we provide ongoing support to help you succeed through each stage of your writing journey. Our collaborative assignments, check-ins, and page reads are designed to meet you wherever you may be in the drafting process: helping you write your experiences evocatively, reflect on the events of your life to uncover universal truths, and deepen the ideas you hope to communicate.

  • For memoirists in the later stages of drafting, we offer close line edits of working manuscripts. Have you convincingly recreated the conversations and scenes of your past? Do the specific details you’re returning to feel immediate and tangible? Are your sentences productively moving your readers through time and memory? We’ll start with about 25 manuscript pages before you commit to a full line edit, to ensure our approach matches your hopes for the memoir.
